Cult of Luna is similar to progressive metal bands like Isis and Neurosis but they definitely have their own sound. Most of their songs start quietly and unhurried, increasing in speed, volume and intensity and end up in keen culmination. The new record from Swallow the Sun is actually a single and features only one new song. But this epic masterpiece is about 35 minutes long, and it's indeed one of the their best songs. Heavy riffs here, beautiful melodies there, it's just Swallow the Sun at its finest. Four additional songs from their demo Out of This Gloomy Light are also on the disc.
